On opening the
telephone, it was noted that there was space for 3 batteries, but only one
was used as there were no battery connections for the other two |
|

On inspecting the
circuit, no faults were found. |

Before inspecting for
more difficult faults, the line wire was replaced with another one and the
telephone worked perfectly. |

The cable was checked
and found that it was open circuit. It was replaced. |

The voltage of the power
supply from the telephone line is 50V. When offline, the voltage after the
hang-on switch is 50V, while it becomes about 7.8V when the phone is raised
(i.e. when on-line). |
