This is at heart of the location called "Gebel tal-halfa" which means "Stones of swear (oath)" I do not know it it is referred to the white pebbles, the scattered rocks in the sea or to the large rock, nor do I know the derivation of the name. What I know is that this was a very nice beach to swim. Unfortunately it is not accessible since there are no roads or lanes where you can park your car.

In the surrounding rocks, there was this weird tree branch growing in a prostrate (horizontal) direction on the ground. It was a very strange sight and can hardly be described as a tree.

Along our pathway we started to find large boulders and numerous rocks scattered around. Here is Malin between two such boulders, which where still not the largest ones here.

Another photo of that rock (gebel tal-Halfa) from a more lighted up direction, and the magnificent shallow green sea with many white pebbles ashore and small dark rocks under the water

We started to climb up some slopes to continue our way, and here we encountered a perfect example of a traditional Maltese (or Gozitan in this case) Girna. It is a small building build up with small stones used for storage and perhaps shelter from rain for local farmers. Piotr said that usually these small buildings are roundish in shape, but in Gozo there is a large number having the square shape. Although made up of loose rounded stones, the building is quite strong if it is still in good shape after so many years.

Our way up to the rocky cliffs ahead was not that easy. Simone is making an effort to climb this steep part. Fortunately the day was partially cloudy and not hot, so a little physical exercise now and then was possible for us.

Some huge rocks lying on the wasteland which have a small similarity with the rocks of several Neolithical temples around Malta and Gozo. However these are naturally placed rocks (probably!)

This was in fact a huge boulder lying in the opening down to the sea. Probably the boulder fell from somewhere high above, perhaps after a small natural quiver) and got stuck in this wide gap during its way down. The rocky boulder measured several metres across, and double as much in length (not visible from this angle)

This location is referred to as Ta Bu Gass - a very strange name of unknown origin. Here was another beautiful site for swimming, but again this green sea paradise is not accessible since there is no roads or lanes which easily lead to here. So it is ideal only for boat owners who can come here in Summer and enjoy a great swim The cool shadow produced by the opposite rocks (during later time of the day) aids the swimmers to have protection from teh Summer's fierce sun heat.
