6 hours walk along the Eastern Coast of Gozo

Page Description This photogallery consists of many photos from a holiday to Gozo that I and my girlfriend Malin did between 18-21 March 2004. The photos are mostly taken for a special planned event that is a long walk of about 12-14km we made around the Eastern Coast of Gozo with our friends Simone camilleri and her boyfriend Piotr from Ludz. (click on icon to view the way we walked on a large detailed map). The walk started from Hondoq ir-rummien, to Ras il-Qala, ghar dorf, Dahlet Qorrot, San Blas, Mistra Rocks, ir-Ramla, and finally Marsalforn. This walk took us 6 hours, and was a mixture of exercise, adventure, wonderful views and fun. This particular page contains 10 photos taken during the walk from the limits of tal-Hazina / tal-Muxi up to Dahlet Qorrot as indicated in the map here. For each photo below, there is a brief text explaining the photo. Names are taken from a map. Photos GOZOWALK1-31 : Walk around the Eastern Coast of Gozo (Mar/04) Click here for to view a medium Sized Photo (about 120 Kb) The rocky non-vegetative land started gradually to transform into grassy wasteland. We could see two large cliffs ahead, one behind Dahlet Qorrot (our next destination site) and the further and larger one behind San Blas Bay. GOZOWALK1-32: Walk around the Eastern Coast of Gozo (Mar/04) Click here for to view a medium Sized Photo (about 120 Kb) We kept walking fast along the pathway, to reach Dahlet Qorrot quickly and so have our first break. We have been walking for nearly 2 hours. Behind this cliff is San Blas Bay. GOZOWALK1-34: Walk around the Eastern Coast of Gozo (Mar/04) Click here for to view a medium Sized Photo (about 120 Kb) We finally arrived at Dahlet Qorrot, a very small bay which at present was covered by a heap of dry, greyish-brown algae ashore. We had a deserved break after 2 hours walking and had time for a group photo. It is a mystery why this bay have so much algae, while other nearby bays do not. This is a look-back photo of Dahlet Qorrot and those garages along the lining rock which their legality is questionable!!!! GOZOWALK1-36: Walk around the Eastern Coast of Gozo (Mar/04) Click here for to view a medium Sized Photo (about 120 Kb) We walked up the steep street which leads to Dahlet Qorrot, but after 200m or so we turned towards the fields so that we progress to San Blas near the coast as much as possible. Although it was just 200m and just coming from our break, we were already pretty exhausted after we climbed this steeply road. The views here were also superb with greenery at one side and bright blue sea on the other. Could not say what plant it was since they were not yet in bloom, but I do not remember that I have came something like this in the wild countryside before.
