First night in Riga was well spent by us. After long walks in the old town and further away, we ate a good meal and concluded the night by 2 rounds of cocktails. This was the second round, bailey/cream based cocktail for Malin and real watermelon vodka/rum for me. Superb!

A nice photo of Radisson Hotel and casino by night reflected on the Daugava river. Writing about rivers, Riga was named after the Riga river which passed through old town centuries ago, but nowadays this have dried completely.

One of the popular attractions in Riga is this Russian Orthodox Cathedral (The Sv. Nikolaja Pareizticigo Juras katedrale) found away old Riga near a large park. Currently it was under restoration and most of it was covered by scaffoldings. According to info on the internet, it was built in 1901-1903

Another photo inside the Russian Orthodox cathedral showing a large golden icon of Holy Mary and baby Jesus. Note that in this church the nuns will come and indicate you that no photographs are allowed, but if you tip them (that is agree to give a donation) they allow you to take a few. Religion and money always hand in hand, in contrast to what Jesus used to preach.
