One of the places the the tourist information recommended was a sort of mini-fjord with water rnning through hills. Thanks to our GPS, it was not difficult to find the suggested area, but could not find and miniature fjord as promised. These views were the best we could get.

Same place as above. By the way, the passage to where I tooke these photos was closed. The passage was adjacent to a souveneir shop and on the wooden stairs/passage there was a chair with some nasty Finish text. I asked the shop owner to go down for a photo and at first she refused, but on further negotiation, and the fact she was shy and not very good-english speaking, I was let to go for few mins. Did not understand why it was 'closed' there was nothing extra-ordinary else a wooden jetty from which these photos were taken.

We visited lakes regularly in Tampere, especially the one close to our Residence. However this photos shows another lake in tampere (which if I remeber well, the tourist information said that there are 100 just in Tampere region!) It was a very warm day mostly driving and we were longing for a refreshing lake bath. After ending up in few "private property" lakes, finally we found a public one some 15km from tampere centre. It was very shallow and ideal for Miranda. She really enjoys in water, especially we we splash water over her :-)

Photo from Lake explained in image above - Martyn also very glad and relaxed here while Miranda is playing in the water with mummy. I like this image as it required a bit of skill.

On our last day in Tampere (Friday 7th August) we decided to pass by a huge Nature Park called Seitseminen, of which it was actually a comples of numerous nature tracks or Trails. One was suitable for pushchairs (and wheelchairs) and was along a mire (bog) so we went to check this one. It was called Soljanen and was very nice and well organised.

Image of numerous trunks of the tall Pinus sylvestris (Forest Pine) probably the tallest tree species in the woods of Finland. Trunks of these trees have a characteristic peach (orange-brown) colour somewhere just below the leaf canopy and when receiving light from sunset this part glows orange-red forming a spectacular colour display of Green, orange and dark brown. This is not shown in this photo, but one can see the colour at the upper part of the trunk.

A water pond surrounded by soggy peat, an important and often protected habitat in Finalnd also known as mire or bog. ('Suo' in Finish)

Miranda is becoming a good model (Hollywood take note!), not just for her looks but she obeys the photographer's (that is mine) posing instructions. I remember well here asking Miranda to hold the wood with one hand and look towards me and smile. Perfect execution!

Here is Malin, Miranda and Martyn on the wooden track over the mire. Here I saw for the first time a Finish Lizard amd plant species associated with Mire habitats like Betula nana (Dwarf Birch), and Rhynchospora alba (White beak Sedge) .
