Repair notes

Full repair description and observations

1

At first, the head was the first suspect. A good cleaning improved the picture  but the vertical snowy bars were not eliminated

2

Playing with the right rabbit setting improved and finally eliminated the bars from the picture giving a detailed unsnowy picture. This needed patience and a good content of trial and error skill.

3

However when the tape reached the end, the snow bars where visible again. Further setting adjustment did eliminate the snow bars but then they re-appeared at the beginning position of the tape. Ultimately the control/audio - head screws had to be adjusted as well so that finally a good picture is obtained throughout the whole tape.

4

The setting involved opening back the VCR for about 5 times because at a certain point in the tape, the snow bars would appear again, but finally the ideal settings of the rabbits (left and right) and the control head was established giving good results

5

Additinally, the REW did not rewound the tape till the end. This was due to a loosey rubber belt which when repalced, it solved the problem out. The belts came in a set of 3 c (1: capstan belt (wide thickness) 2: main pinch roller belt, 3: Eject Belt).

Repair summary

MIS-ALIGNMENT OF THE TAPE GUIDES AND AUDIO/CONTROL HEAD

Precautions, fouls and advises

1

The adjustment of the rabbits is very akward. The rollers are quite tight and damage to the head is easy achieved if the tools slip from the mms away head and break it. Adequate rabbit turning tool is adviced as the screwdriver serious corroded and tampared the grooves that it was not possible to rotate it with the screwdriver. Actually it was then rotated by means of pliers,
