 It was obvious that there was a dry joint somewhere, and after several searching, there was a nicely hidden one on capacitor C503, adjecently near the horiz+vert deflection plug (360nF, blue). Soldering this made the screen to resume its original width, but the pincushion did not got fixed.

 The capacitor, although it gave a steady 359 nF,  was replaced, maybe it was working badly under high voltages. A 330nF capacitor was replaces, but no effect on the pin cushion distortion. The original capacitor was soldered back again

 After testing several parts, it was found the there was a fusible(?) resistor – R503 which was open circuit. The markings were barely visible, but a white, pink/orange, gold, gold (9.3 Ohms) could be read out. Strangely, when checking the value on a circuit diagram at Mirald electronics (Grundig shop) the value given was 5.6?? I bouth both 5.6 and 8.2 Ohms (9.3 not available)

 When the resistor was replaced (the 8.3 Ohms one), the pin cushion distortion was cured up amd a full perfectely square raster  was obtained.

 Checking the resistor it had 13.5V at the tuner side and 15V at the LOPTX side and it did not warm up.
