Symptoms observed

Does not power up, seems that it does not respond to the face panel,
on which there is the on/off switch |

Before going to the power supply of the unit I inspected the circuit
and te face plate for any dry joints etc. In fact it was a good idea as I saw
two links from the cable communicating between the face and the main unit
where broken. The cable was ribbon type and could not be soldered or fixed, a
new one had to be ordered |

I went to AIWA agent at Fleur de Lys and they had the cable for sale.
To make the story long they gave me the wrong ribbon. When I went back then
they gave me the good one but also saved me a nasty job because they desoldered the plug
from the old damaged cable onto the new one. |

It took some time to replace the cable, but when finally it was fixed,
the Stereo powered up and worked fine |
