After fixing symptom 1,
picture was black and white – sometimes patches of dirty
colour appears. Also picture is slightly unsharp. |

The FF / PLAY / REW
problem was solved by changing belts, pinchroller and idler tyre. |

Then on testing the VCR,
the picture produced was without colour and some how unsharp. I asked help
from internet and they asked if Electronic to Electronic test was in colour.
This involved passing the signal via RF or Video in from the video and see if
the video output was in colour. This resulted in a colourful perfect picture
both from RF and from Video in. |

They suggested that the
problem was in chroma circuit, but I was still sceptical and believed that
the problem was in head. Louis of HE also agreed that it could be the head.
Well I could afford to buy a head for this video since it was quite cheap.
Then if B&W remains I will dig into the Chroma circuit until I find the
fault. |
