| U2a) A young specimen of a small thitle (Asteracea sp.) with leaves having a spiny margin and somewhat lanate surfaces. Amongst the common species, this can be attributed to Galactites tomentosa or Carlina involucrata, but in May these species are fully mature (galactites in flower/fruit, Carlina in buds, higher and often reddish stems). A wishful possibility is the rare Atractylis cancellata, which is considered as a late annual flowering in end-May and June.
