1 |
On opening up, it was
immediately noted that the main Belt was melted around the motor pulley. |
|
|
2 |
Using many swabs and
acetone, the melted rubber was removed and the pulley was cleaned up. |
|
|
3 |
Two other small rubber
rings seemed to be loose and were replaced. One was responsible for the
counter. On putting the good belts,
the cassette player functioned perfectly |

MELTED / LOOSE RINGS AND BELTS |
Precautions, fouls and advises |
|
|
|
1 |
Since the belt was
melted, its size was not known. A piece of string was used around the pulley
and assumed path of the belt and from the length (circumference) the diameter
was calculated. However this would not be the right size, and it is advised
that the a smaller size is bought because one should
bear in mind that the belt should be tightly placed in. Preferably two sizes
are bought to avoid going back to the shop if the chosen size was slightly
big or small! |
