Full repair description and observations |

The first suspect fell on
the power amplifer IC, which was a Toshiba TA8215. It showed signs of burn
and so it was obvious. |
|
|
2 |
The IC was replaced and the stereo deck was
assembled. On checking still no sound was present. I was very puzzled?! |
|
|
3 |
I bought another IC in case it needs to be
replaced again. I opened the unit to check the voltages on the IC. |
|
|
4 |
I found out that one pin of the IC was not
soldered, and there was an open track in the mute pin which I casued myself
with the hot sopldering iron while removing the old IC. Fixing these open
tracks, caused the stereo to produce good sound again |

Precautions, fouls and advises |

When replacing an IC
always check that all pins are making continuity with the neighbouring
component/link. This would saved me from wasting time and money (since I
bought another IC) |
