This a touristic map of the island of Köpmanholmen, which means Merchant's Island. Tourist can arrive to this island by boat via a small harbour shown in the Map, but I and Malin visited the island by our canoe from the summer cottage which is on the right shore merely a 1km further up the island.

This is a photo from the canoe while going to Köpmanholmen. You can see the island on the right side. It would take about 20-25 mins to arrive to the shore.

This is a little sandy bay on the island were we came ashore. It is a very nice bay, peaceful, and the water is not very deep. However for Maltese flesh like mine, it was very cold - about 15C. Malin says it was not bad and good to swim!

I and Malin beside a large anchor near the bay. This anchor is taken from a ship who collided with rocks and sank about 2km away from the island in the early 20th century. Its name was Charles Grafton and it was used by Russians to transport rifles and weapons illegally to some Finnish group in that time. When it collided they made the ship to sink so that it will be unnoticed.

This was our anniversary meal (1 year we first met on 17th June 2002) at an open air restaurant on this island. I ordered salmon and Malin chicken and it was a big portion and really good. It was so enjoyable to eat outside in a quite place like this.

After the meal we went for a walk around the island. The walk wasn't very long since this island is quite small, maybe 1 square km. Here is a photo at one bank of the island showing some reddish rocks, the blue calm sea and forests at the other mainland bank of Larsmo.

Here we found a good area of grass where I and Malin slept for an hour or so in the warm sun. It was a perfect hour of sleep in peace, accompanied with the joyful singing of birds (mainly finches).

On the island there is a tall wooden tower where one can climb to see this picturesque view. The tower was about 5-6 stories high. The photo is actually two pictures joined together to make it look more 'panoramic' (horizontally larger). On teh tower there was some geographic information about this island. It was stated that a couple of hundreds of years ago (about 800 years ago if I remember well) this island was completely underwater and it started to emerged slowly with time. There was also a sort of exhibition on the island called "Terramare" which was about this fact, but when we where there this was closed. Anyway, the view was so beautiful that it was hard to start walking back down
