The main square of Joensuu is a popular market place during the mornings. You can find many different things at the market, but mainly flowers, vegetables and other types of food.

This statue is called "Vapaudenpatsas" (= The statue of liberty) and is situated in front of the city hall. The sculptor's name is Yrjo Liipola. Found in a large park decorated by many sorts of flowering plants.

| This is the City Hall of Joensuu, and the building also contains the City Theatre and a restaurant. It was built in 1914by Eliel Saarinen, the same architect who built Helsinki Railway station. |
