NOTES and OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

  1. It is often the accompanying dye in blue inks together with the Fast Violet 01 dye
  2. Normally found in a less amount from the fast violet dye.
  3. Turns colourless in alkalis, and violet in acids hence acting as a pH indicator?
  4. The violet colour formed with the acids is similar to the dye Gentian Violet.

TENTATIVE IDENTIFICATION:

Not yet identified - could be a derivative of the dye Methyl Violet, since of the similar colour produced in low pH.
